Flights from Australia

Fly from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Perth to Delhi (usually via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or direct on some routes), then connect to Leh for Leh-start tours. Fares change a lot by season and how early you book, so check current prices before you budget. Book flexible fares if you can, and arrive a day early if your connection is tight.

Travel insurance

Get a policy that clearly covers motorcycle riding at high altitude (Umling La is 5,798 m) and medical evacuation. Read the exclusions for engine size, licence requirements and altitude limits. Many standard policies exclude these.

Sample budgets (per person, AUD, before flights)

Five ways to keep the cost down

  1. Book by 31 January 2027 with FIRSTRIDERS10 for 10% off.
  2. Share a room: twin-share saves around AUD $500–AUD $800.
  3. Pick a Leh-start tour if you’re short on time; it skips the Delhi – Manali leg.
  4. Bring your own riding boots and any extra gear you already own.
  5. Book flights early and stay flexible on dates; there’s a departure every second Saturday.

How payment works

Pay an AUD $100 non-refundable deposit to secure your place. 50% is due 60 days before your tour starts, and the balance follows as set out in our booking and cancellation policy. Read the policy before you book.

Why tours vary in price

Longer tours cost more because every day adds rooms, meals, fuel, crew and permits. The Delhi-start tours (17 and 20 days) also include the climb from the plains via Manali, which many riders find easier on the body.

Who runs the tours

D’Himalayan Riders is based in Melbourne, VIC, and led by Sonam Rinchen, who has spent 14 years guiding riders in Ladakh. Our trusted partner in Leh is Endeavour Ladakh, which handles the ground crew and logistics (Endeavour Ladakh reports 100K+ riders and a 4.7 rating; those are the partner’s figures).
